The Cape Breastoners

The Cape Breastoners are a local team of breast cancer survivors. Their dedication and enthusiasm brought dragon boating to Cape Breton. We are proud to have them as a sister society to the Festival and are thankful for their on-going support.

Dragon Boating
Each dragon boat team is made up of 22 people, including 20 paddlers, a drummer who keeps them in time and a steers person who keeps the boat aimed in the proper direction to the finish line. The objective is to paddle a 12 metre dragon boat down a set course of 250 meters, where teamwork is more important than raw power.
